December 2021 Update: Teaching classes in Kurdistan and shipping food to Beirut refugee camps

Dear brothers and sisters, with thanksgiving and praise I write an update.

I returned home in July after I spent 8 months on a mission trip to Kurdistan, and a visit to my family in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2017, I attended my mother’s funeral where I met my siblings for the first time after many years of separation. Since then, God has been working in their hearts, especially when they found out that I have been helping those in need in Iraq. I remember a
dream that I saw in 2006, I was in Beirut looking for our home, but found myself standing on empty land. While I was wondering what happened, a voice from above said you are the one who is going to build your father’s house. I said I don’t have money to build the house, but the voice was repeated three times saying that I am the one who is going to build my father’s house…

During the time in Kurdistan, The Lord prepared the way for me to teach 2 sewing courses in two different villages. I also helped the girls to start their own business. Each course lasted for 3 months, as well as my teaching of English language.
While I was there, my friend Lonita sent 4 shipments of used clothes, sewing machines, and medical supplies. Due to the pandemic and the lockdown, many organizations have cut down their supplies, which left the refugees in great need. On the other hand, the situation in Lebanon is getting worse due to the political conflicts and bad economy.

Recently, I received two phone calls; one from Aram, the manager of the Syrian refugee camp in Kurdistan, and one from my brother Mohammed who lives in Beirut. Both asked for help. They needed dry food and medical supplies, such as wheelchairs, and other items. We were able to purchase and ship 5000 Lbs. of rice, sugar, tomato sauce, and other items from Blessings of
Hope. The costs of shipping were very high because we ship by air cargo. They received the shipment of rice in Beirut; they were able to distribute it to those in need. They greatly appreciate our help and they asked for more. Since my family live there, they keep me updated. Now we are planning to send a container of dry food, medical supplies and winter clothes. We are planning to reach out to Wall-Mart, Costco, and other companies hoping that they will donate dry food and other items as requested.

Shipping a 20 feet container to Beirut, Lebanon will cost between $ 4000-7000. We trust the Lord that He will provide the financial means to cover all the cost of purchasing the items and for the shipping. We appreciate your prayers and your support.

The Lord bless you all.

Merry Christmas, and happy New Year,

In Christ,
Raymonda Samawi
