Raymonda Samawi discovered early her love of couture, and it quickly became her passion. At age 20, she moved from her native Lebanon to Paris, the world’s capital of bespoke fashion. She apprenticed at premier design house Carven Haute Couture and immersed herself in the craft of custom draping and fitting.
During her time in the City of Lights, her artistic sensibility came into focus. As she explored the use of color and texture and movement, she discovered the freedom, the beauty, and the transformation that comes from bespoke design.
Raymonda returned to the Middle East and began working with a vast array of clients—from royalty requesting elegant, one-of-a-kind creations to film directors seeking cutting-edge fashion for artists and performers. The diversity of these projects fueled her imagination and allowed for wide-ranging creativity and originality.
Her work eventually led her to New York City. Based in Manhattan’s garment
district, Raymonda continues to create original, elegant designs for artistic
performances, marketing campaigns, and formal celebrations. She recently
designed a made-to-measure gown for a Revlon national ad campaign.
