Greetings, everyone!
This has been a busy year for Come to Me Ministries so far. Thanks to God’s blessing, open doors, and help from many of you, exciting things are happening.
The past few weeks, we held in-person classes in New Jersey. In the morning I (Raymonda) taught English to immigrant women, and in the afternoon I taught sewing classes to several other women. These ladies have been dramatically affected by the wars in the Middle East, and are trying to rebuild their lives here in America. Most of them never went to school and do not speak English.
With God’s help, I am teaching them many things that will enable them to live productive and fulfilling lives here. Learning English opens the door to endless opportunities for them to find jobs, friends, and community. Graduates of the sewing class now have foundational seamstress skills, to sew clothing for themselves, their families, and even create custom clothing for others, to make a living.
In the sewing class, we learned about the basics of pattern making and custom fitting. After practicing on plain cloth, we used fabric selected by each student to make their own outfit. Everyone is excited about sewing! We also made sturdy tote bags, as another useful way to exercise new sewing skills.
The best part of all– throughout these classes, we are sharing God’s love and planting seeds of His truth in the hearts of these refugee women. We have had many good conversations and it is so exciting to let the Light shine! Pray with us that the Lord will open their hearts and set them free.
We have plans to start another month of sewing and English classes in Lancaster, PA, where there are hundreds of refugee families in need of education, friendship, and hope. Please be in prayer as we move forward into what God has prepared for our ministry.
If you have questions or would like to get involved practically, feel free to contact us at any time.
God bless you all!
